This was an interesting write.  The middle came quite quickly using this week's Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>cooperate, lame, terse] prompt.  Normally it is a simultaneous struggle between the first and middle verse; they tend to go hand in hand.  I get a general idea for the initial word (though it is subject to change) while pulling the middle and end together with the given words.  For this one, the middle came so quickly I was at a complete loss for what the initial word and its followers should be.  The last line is basically impossible to write with out the initial word.  Maybe it is the way this poem unfolded that has me not quite content...ah...but then again, when am I ever content.

On a Side Note:  Recently I posted that I would be limiting my use of this blog.  I feel it has fulfilled its purpose and that it is time for me to move on.  Unfortunately, letting go is not all that easy...or maybe it is fortunate, because I will (at least for a time) be maintaining two things here: my weekly contributions to OpenLinkNight over at dVerse and my last Wednesday of the month "clarity pyramid meets 3WW" for Three Word Wednesday.    I have just recently taken up residency elsewhere in case you care to drop in.

It is the last Wednesday of the month and with that comes another union of Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>douse, naughty, pale] and the clarity pyramid.  I'm not too fond of homophones.  I had something in my mind until I realized that it was pale and not pail.  I had to do some rearranging; I'm not 100% happy with the results, but...

It's that time again!  The last Wednesday of the Month brings forth a marvelous combination Three Word Wednesday [3WW=drab, pulsate(s), tendril(s)] and the clarity pyramid.  I always find this day to be a treat and a half.

I usually put my ramblings at the end, but....

An Aside:  So here again is what happens when Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>clench(ed), faint, prod] meets the last Wednesday of the month...a clarity pyramid.  I got stuck on the idea of using prod like a cattle prod; it took quite some effort with a lot of scribblings and extra lines with syllables that didn't fit right, and in the end while I kept some of the ideas that blossomed from this I ended up not using prod in that manner.

An(other) Aside:  This is an example where multi-syllable words take a bit away from the visual "pyramid-ness" of this form.

So Halloween has officially been postponed to Monday, November 5th. Still I figured I couldn't let it pass without a mention. I have entwined it within...yes, you guessed it...I mean what else am I going to do on the last Wednesday of the month,but...a clarity pyramid.

I did have an alternative for the last line, while I figured it fit the form better, the above seemed to better fit the poem itself.  The alternative:  "inspiration on canvas."  Who knows...maybe I'll change my mind.

It seems like forever since I last (a) tried my hand at a clarity pyramid and (b) found myself pondering the words over at Three Word Wednesday.  But it seems only natural that on this last Wednesday of the month (now that I've found my way back to writing), I should explore both of these.


The first thing that came to mind when I saw this weeks words [3WW=>cut(s), endanger(ed), hazard] was cutting.  It took me a little while to get it to come together; and still, I'm not really sure the middle stanza necessarily depicts a "life event" as it is meant to, but I think it works anyway.

it's been awhile since i last wrote a clarity pyramid...but seeing as how this is the last Wednesday of the month and i have finally found my way back to 3WW, how could i not write one?  took me a bit to bring it all together, but i do seem to find that is often the case with this form.

this past weekend, there was a marathon of Firefly on tv.  while i have never really watched the single season 'space cowboy' series, my brother roped me into a couple of episodes.  somehow this weeks Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>behave, jettison(ed), mob] was inspired by one of the episodes.

i concede...once again I hoped to try for two in one day...but it seems it wasn't in me. so here is my meager offerings for this week's OpenLinkNight. tonight I go voiceless leaving this little scribbling scrawled on a coaster over at the dVerse~Poets Pub.

i'm still wondering around in my little hiding place, but making occassional trips to the surface now and then.  i couldn't pass up the last Wednesday of the month at Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>bump(s), knuckle(s), transfix]...not when there was a clarity pyramid poem to write.

this sweet little ditty erupted as i drove home earlier this evening from work.  inspired by Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>grin, jumble, naked].


just as i got ready to hit publish, i got an eerie feeling.  after checking the date, i realize that this is the last Wednesday of the month.  in keeping with tradition, today's 3WW should be a clarity poem.  so let's see what i got...

that took awhile to manifest. at first i thought to transform the first poem some how to fit this form...but that wasn't happening. then, i admit, i got distracted...dinner...tv... it is a amazing though how i pondered the words for so long trying so many different 'start' words and when i finally let go of the 'start' word, focused on the 3WW, and worked on how they might fit to make the middle, it came to me like a flash.

ahh...the clarity poem tradition lives on...  for a short time, i was not sure i'd be able to manage it with this weeks Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>foolish, mercy, relish].  first it was an insanely busy day and my brain was not in the right frame of mind.  i stared at the words for a while trying to make a connection...something...anything...  finally i ask someone what the three words reminded them of.  first i got 'love'...sweet, but it didn't really do anything for me.  then i got squander.  i toyed with that for a while, 'cause well...squander just sounds like a cool word.  but trying to figure out how to put the 3WW together in a clarity poem with 'waste/squander' a third long forgotten word was next to impossible.


like always though, my best thinking happens in the car after i leave work.  i'm not sure the exact train of thought, but the word, mistake, came to mind...and from there...well you've already read what that inspiration wrought.  in the end, i think it came out okay...

it's that time again...in keeping with tradition (the past two months...during the last week...for 3WW...i think that makes a tradition...), i have constructed a clarity pyramid from prompt presented by Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>loud, persuasive, riches].  it took a bit of finagling, but i think it works well enough.

a vice grip takes hold
squeezing every juicy drop
leaving a hollow figure

decided to go with a clarity pyramid for this one...seems like i've used this form at least once per month in the past two months so i might as well continue the pattern and include at least one this month...

so i finished the whole thing just to find out i missed the word 'figure'; the seven syllable line originally read, "leaving you an empty shell."  i really didn't want to loose the word 'you' in the line, but...  anyway, this poem was inspired by Three Word Wednesday [3WW=>figure, juicy, stress].

decided to play with a clarity pyramid as i tried to figure out how i'd bring together the slang words put forth by Three Word Wednesday [3WW=conniption, janky, scooch].  i guess it work out okay.  i'm still toying with another idea i had for the three words...maybe later they'll come together...

i decided to dabble a bit more with poetic form.  this turned out to be a very lean clarity pyramid.  after much back and forth with the initial triplet, i uttered a sigh of relief as i counted out the last eight syllables.  this post was inspired by Three Word Wednesday [3WW=dabble, lean, utter].
