Over at dVerse Poets Pub, they're exploring the Lune (or should I say Lunes) for this week's FormForAll. I thought I'd give it a go.
Lune: Lily Pads
#1 (Kelly Lune)
violescent hues
dance along
riverbeds--waiting
#2 (Collom Lune)
frogs play hopscotch
'cross turbulent waters with not
a single care
Lune: Holiday Scraps
#1 (Kelly Lune)
strung popcorn festoons
appear now
as nothing but string
#2 (Collom Lune)
fires still crackle
with leftover remnants of gifts
stoking their flames
An Aside: For additional inspiration, I used the "Word of the Day" from two separate dictionary apps. Dictionary.com: violescent (adj.) - tending to a violet color. Merriam-Webster: festoon (n.) - 1. a decorative chain or strip hanging between two points; 2. a carved, molded or painted ornament representing a decorative chain.
oh i love the hopscotching frogs.. and i like that the gift remnants are still good for a bit of warmth while they feed the flames
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed these - especially the popcorn strings. Do you really do that? It's not something I've come across before.
ReplyDeleteAll are good, but the first is killer good. So beautiful and anticipatory.
ReplyDeleteThe frogs playing hopscotch verse gave your series a very playful feel.

ooo really cool..i like the frog one...and the crackling fire of the presents...we always burn our paper so it put me right there....very cool...
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I love the holiday scraps series. No popcorn left - ha; and the fire cackling with..hmmm....hopefully paper from the wrappings?
ReplyDeleteGood set specially the fun and playful lilypads ~

ReplyDeletelovely use of the words you found...not to mention the lovely lunes. very vivid images in a brief view.
ReplyDeleteLove this:
ReplyDelete"violescent hues

I love the frogs playing hopscotch and the empty popcorn strings. Great lunes!
ReplyDeleteI loved all these but my favourite is the empty popcorn festoons...I can imagine eating away at these over the festive season...very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you put together something for the Kelly lune and the Collom lune. Your images are very strong, riverbeds, frogs, ribbons and flames. I especially like the second lune, because it echoes the frog in arguably the most-famous of all haikus by Basho.
ReplyDeleteBoth are gorgeous
ReplyDeletedid the dogs get the popcorn or the kids?
ReplyDeleteFun images
i absolutely love the popcorn one! very clever, made me smile...
ReplyDeleteI love the hopscotching frogs! Delightful work.

ReplyDelete...Interesting take... And oh, i learned something new today...tnx teacher...smiles...
ReplyDeleteI liked this one:
ReplyDeleteviolescent hues
dance along
riverbeds--waiting
It gives feed to the imagination and let you ponder on the status of the lily. It says something important about the urge to achieve.
The form produces some lively images
