Bursting with Pom Seeds
It's been approximately six months since my last Pom Seed update.  I admit that as with the last post I have not been very active in using my twitter persona to hold some of the little ideas and thoughts that pop into my head with the potential to become something much more than they are.

In accordance with my last batch, I will only be posting new pom seeds and ramblings along with any leftover pom seed/old rambling that managed to burst into some juicy little treat.  I have also decided that there really is not much difference between pom seeds and ramblings, so as of today I'll be merging them all under the pom seed listing.  I will allow all previously labeled ramblings to keep their title on the Pom Seeds page.  Still, I have also decided to assess some of the old ramblings that had tweetoetry potential and add them into the tweetoetry collection that usually follows pom seeds.

So...without further ado...

1 Batch #8

Bursting with Pom Seeds
Wow!  It has been almost a year since I did my last Pom Seed update.  I suppose my (partial) hiatus from all things (online) social put a small dapper on things.  There really has not been too much to add.  In finding my way back into the blogging world, I have found use of several pom seeds over the past month.  I have also managed to add a few tweetoetries lastly.

Just a quick refresher on what a pom seed is:  little tidbits of inspiration that come about yet have not grown and developed into something more--what that more might be, well that's the fun of it.  For more on pom seeds, you can check out the Pom Seeds page which goes into a bit of detail about how these came about and check out some of the pom seeds that have yet to burst.
While originally my batches only presented the new and 'leftover' pom seeds, it has grown into including tweetoetry and ramblings.  As for the ramblings....sometimes they have the potential to be a pom seed and some a tweetoetry; ususually at the time I jot them down they don't feel like much of either.  Unfortunately, this ends up making my batches quite long.  To cut down on this, old ramblings and leftover pom seeds will be listed if they grew into a tasty treat; the rest will be delegated to the Pom Seeds page.  As always, tweetoetry is only new.

Anyway...here goes...

Pom Seeds Batch #8
  • I want to cry like a waterfall; I want to cry like the clouds in a thunder storm
  • wake me from this nightmare; breathe life back into my bruised and battered soul; I am lost and fading fast
  • whose to say what will rise from the ashes; the mystical wings of the phoenix; the untapped beauty of Cinder-Soot (this one sprouted wings in From the Ashes)
  • your piercing gaze; disturbs my equilibrium; I teeter between who I wish you to see; and who I am beneath the surface (this one found balance in Beneath the Veil)
  • the world melts away; whenever my eyes meet yours; I am swept along; lost in a sea of regret; floating endlessly (this one found shore in Adrift in Regret)
  • social endeavors; breed paranoid delusions; in whispers and taunts; unheard words that brush the neck (this one found itself lost in questions with Irrational Illusions)
  • I've taken time to breathe; stilled my tapping fingers; capped my quill's inkwell; only to find myself suffocating (this one sprouted into Drowning in Words)
  • still; I hold each breath; as tears perch; on my eyelids
Ramblings (bold = new; italics = became a poem)
  • uncertainty troubles the mind
  • I need to get out of my head ~ stop festering on those things out of my control
  • he walks backwards / along a fine line with ease / not batting an eye / through his omission
  • ~ I'm tired ~ tired of smiling ~ it takes too much energy ~ wears on me ~ eroding me from the inside out ~
  • sleep evades my tired body ~ dancing before my eyelids ~ taunting my restless mind ~ I so long to just...
  • senses flare ~ with every breath we share (this one sprouted into a Framed Couplet called Falling Deep)
  • weep with me until every last tear is wrung from your dehydrated body (this along with the three that follow stitched themselves together in Longing for Someone)
  • walk with me until the soles of your feet are stripped raw to the bone
  • wail with me until your lungs can no longer bear the fire searing their walls
  • Am I the only one who finds the silence deafening?
  • I'm not sure this 'quiet' suits me.  My voice is having a hard time finding its footing--the words keep slipping away unable to take hold.
  • I'm trying to find my way back.  I can't keep hugging this tree hoping someone will find me.  (this one--or at least part of it--grew into a quadrilew in Forest Fears)
  • I need to get out of my own head!
  • lock the door to your heart ~ I have a tendency to escape (this one unlocked itself in Your Open Heart)
  • I just had a conversation with myself ~ the men with straightjackets must be salivating at the mouth (this one and the next two worked themselves together into When They Come)
  • when they come to take me away ~ will the padded cell be firm enough ~ to protect my mind from bombarding thoughts
  • when they come to take me away ~ will the straightjacket be strong enough ~ to protect me from my mind

Leftovers
  • my mom use to say; we're never lost; we're just misplaced (this one navigated itself into Direction Impaired)
  • what will become of me; when I squeeze; the last bit of ink; out of my veins (this one spilled forth into Bleeding Black)
  • I'm not a shot of coffee; there when you need a pick me up; I'm not a 24 hour convenience store; open to satisfy your midnight cravings (this one frothed up in Booty Call--Outgoing Message)

3 Batch #7

Bursting with Pom Seeds
i wonder if these batches are getting too long.  i should have predicted that would be the case as i began to add things (first Tweetoetry and then Ramblings).  maybe it wouldn't be so bad if i didn't keep all of the previous ramblings, but in a way they have the same potential as my leftover pom seeds...so keeping them seems right...but still...

after the last post, i created a new page to explain pom seeds.  i could use that page to maintain unused pom seeds (leftovers as i like to call them) and old ramblings.  i'll ponder that for the next batch; today i'll leave things as is.

so here goes...

Pom Seeds Batch #7
  • I'm not a shot of coffee; there when you need a pick me up; I'm not a 24 hour convenience store; open to satisfy your midnight cravings
  • I thought you could love me for who I am; and so I hid her from your sight (grew into an interesting little number and my second 'spoken word' poem, Flawed Love)
  • is there something wrong with my genes?; they're made of the best material; composed of strong fiber; and yet upon inspection; they lack style
  • I'm tired of this war raging inside; instinctively I fight; everyday; just once; I wish I could throw in the towel; losing should be so easy
  • I stand; arms outstretched; face turned toward the weeping sky; her rage whips; tearing through my body; I cry with her; rage with her

Ramblings (bold = new)
  • it's amazing how you can loose sight of something's true purpose when trying to conform.  (this popped into my head as i read over a poem that seemed to loose itself a bit as i tried to fit it to a form)
  • how long will I wait for someone to show me my worth before I except the truth
  • ~ content and happy are two different things ~ I'd be happy with just being content ~
  • lock the door to your heart ~ I have a tendency to escape
  • i could really use a hug right now!
  • when words fail, a simple touch can steal the pain.  (oddly enough the essense of this ramblings found its way into a recent attempt at writing a Ghazal, With Words)
  • I'm an outsider in my own life.  How is that possible?
  • ~ random thoughts float about in my head ~ longing to spill out ~ but who would wish to listen ~ to such randomness ~
  • silence can be just as profound as the perfectly spoken words (oddly enough the essense of this ramblings found its way into a recent attempt at writing a Ghazal, With Words)
  • I just had a converstaion with myself ~ the men with straightjackets must be salivating at the mouth
  • do I write the poem ~ or does the poem write me?
  • i need a happy though ~ my lips long to feel the contours of a smile
  • the taste of silence was never so sweet ~how many different ways can the above line be twisted?~ (i found two ways...which lead to three poems; Kiss Me Senseless, Sweet Kiss, and The Sweet Taste of Silence)
  • why do I open myself up to a world that does not know me, yet knows me better than those who do
  • my feet despise being confined ~ when the sun shines high in the sky
  • can you see the lie behind my smile?  can you hear the pain hiding in my laugh?  (i'm not sure if this was meant to be a ramblings or a pom seed for i did not mark it appropriately and while i think i might have intended it to be a pom seed i have decided to place it amongst my ramblings)
  • when they come to take me away ~ will the padded cell be firm enough ~ to protect my mind from bombarding thoughts
  • when they come to take me away ~ will the straightjacket be strong enough ~ to protect me from my mind
  • I taste a little bit of sunshine on your lips ~ a whole lot of tomorrows in your kiss
  • fickle tears ~ they pour when sad ~ they pour when happy ~ they thunder when hurt ~ you'd think they'd pick an emotion and stick with it
  • is it wrong that thinking about being happy makes me sad?
  • I wish I had the words ~ to heal this wound ~ but they seem to elude ~ still I try ~ pouring out word after word ~ hoping I'll find the perfect mix (i feel like this could potentially stand on its own as a poem or act as a pom seed...)
  • pathetic really ~ the way anxiety grips my heart ~ as I step outside myself ~ reaching out ~ to those on the inside of the circle ~ I skirt (could technically be classified as a tweetoetry, but...)
  • ~ why do I live like this? one pill...many pills...I need to find an answer (thoughts of a poem lingered in my head upon writing this, With Every Word... In Every Action...)
  • I don't have any thoughts lingering in my head ~ Is that what peace feels like?
  • ~ her giggles are like candy ~
  • anxiety's peace ~ tastes like profanity ~ on virgin lips (thoughts of calling this a poem in its own right still linger)
  • forgive my lack of social graces... (part of a recent ramblings post, social-less soul)

Leftovers
  • Information overload
  • I woke with rose colored glasses and the world was as only I could dream it to be
  • my mom use to day; we're never lost; we're just misplaced
  • i hate days like today; where i'm blindsided; punched in the chest; days when all i want to do is curl up into a little ball and disappear
  • "you're growing."; am I? I don't think I'm growing; maybe just walking outside myself
  • love is pain and sorrow; wrapped in disguise; it laughs at me; with its sweet intoxicating lies
  • I see myself in black & white; brilliant colors surround me; poke at me; eager to caress me with their warmth; but they bounce off of me
  • I will live forever like this; in shadows of who I long to be
  • I walk in a world not my own; but of my own making
  • what will become of me; when I squeeze; the last bit of ink; out of my veins
  • my heart quakes; earth-shattering tremors; only I can feel; course through me; I search for safety; the open embrace; of...

0 Batch #6

Bursting with Pom Seeds
it has been over three months since i last put together a batch of pom seeds.  according to my twitter stream, the last batch left off 107 days ago.  i have found that while the occassional pom seed pops up more tweetoetry seems to be emerging from this social media.  every once in awhile a #ramblings (or what i now deem #random) finds its way into the mix.  i still haven't quite put my finger on what makes a ramblings different from a pom seed, but for now i'll keep them seperate.

for sanity sake, i intend to break these 106 past days into two batches.  so here goes...

Pom Seeds Batch #6
  • I'm tired of living these lies / it's time to rip away my mask / to see beneath my sad disguise [potential octain in the making]  (unmasked itself in reverse order in an octain, beneath the lies)
  • I wish I had the words to heal this hurt / to drive away the stinging pain you feel / the world is stained with many tear-filled shirts / so cry (unfolded itself into an Ottava Rima, tear stained healing)
  • he laughs the bitter taste out past his lips / then turns the remnants over on his tongue / to savor them as if a robust wine (evolved into a sweet tasting poem, devil's laugh)
  • she snuck in / under cover of night / shaking my world / like a spray can  (inspired by OSP this unraveled in a poem called Graffiti'd:  One Night Impression)
  • I walk in a world not my own / but of my own making
  • what will become of me / when I squeeze / the last bit of ink / out of my veins
  • my heart quakes / earth-shattering tremors / only I can feel / course through me / I search for safety / the open embrace / of...

Ramblings (bold = new)
  • silence can be just as profound as the perfectly spoken words (oddly enough the essense of this ramblings found its way into a recent attempt at writing a Ghazal, With Words)

  • when they come to take me away ~ will the straightjacket be strong enough ~ to protect me from my mind

  • you put me on a shelf and stare at me/ hold me on a pedestal as though I were a queen (I hear this like a song with a biting sound.)  (this finally founds its voice in conjunction with the lines below to form a song called Shine.)
  • but you don't listen to a word I say/ nor see the tears that stain my face (continuation of "you put me on a shelf...")  (this finally founds its voice in conjunction with the lines below to form a song called Shine.)

0 Batch #5

Bursting with Pom Seeds
as before, there is really not much to report on the pom seed front.  i have two that fermented immediately into frothy delights.  the other two are linked together as potential lyrics (be grateful twitter doesn't allow for you input via microphone instead of keyboard). mostly i have been sending out tweetoetry--though i have one rambling to add to the mix.

anyway...while there are very few new additions, some of those from previous batches (today's leftovers) have matured into tasteful little bits.

so here goes...

Pom Seeds Batch #5
  • please help! my love has gone astray; he promised me here he would stay; so hurry I did, straight away; without delay, without delay (erupted into kiss anew)
  • you put me on a shelf and stare at me/ hold me on a pedestal as though I were a queen (I hear this like a song with a biting sound.)
  • I watch the ripples on the surface/ as I sink into nonexistence (erupted into plunge into nonexistence)
  • but you don't listen to a word I say/ nor see the tears that stain my face (continuation of "you put me on a shelf...")

Ramblings (bold = new)
  • pathetic really ~ the way anxiety grips my heart ~ as I step outside myself ~ reaching out ~ to those on the inside of the circle ~ I skirt (could technically be classified as a tweetoetry, but...)
  • anxiety's peace ~ tastes like profanity ~ on virgin lips (thoughts of calling this a poem in its own right still lingers)
  • forgive my lack of social graces... (part of a recent ramblings post, social-less soul)

Leftovers
  • Information overload
  • I woke with rose colored glasses and the world was as only I could dream it to be
  • we were never friends; not really; how could we be; when all we did; was dance around each other (blossomed in never really friends)
  • I woke this evening to a dream; and found myself the real me (i tried to expand this one, but i don't think it has fermented as much as it needs to) (finally matured into As Only I Could Dream)
  • I see myself in black & white; brilliant colors surround me; poke at me; eager to caress me with their warmth; but they bounce off of me
  • I will live forever like this; in shadows of who I long to be

Tweetoetry

can you taste
the tart flavor of my words
do they bite
my words strike your twisted soul

on my lips

hard and fast
a riotous sound
meant to soothe my soul
pluck each chord

your whispering
touch

I melt

burn
with unshed tears

revolting tears
stage a coup

how do I find my way back
back into nonexistence
where I can be free
to at last
live

shades of white--pink hues
spring buds on long dormant limbs
opening my soul

I'm always on the outskirts
a hell of my own making

#30(senryu)
~on the inside

her beauty faded
--as too often is the case--
when her looks began to shine

#31
~filled to the brim

I write
to save my soul
for where words
might otherwise drown me
I break through the leves
so they may pour free

#32 (inspired by OSP Friday Poetically)
~the sound of touch

silence
absolute utter silence
falls on deaf ears
but as bare toes curl
into loose earth
a midnight serenade
bursts to life

#33 (septolet; inspired by 3WW)
~social jitters

graced
with social phobia
jitters spread

sanity
walks a thin line
around
my soul

#34
~soul to bare

I strip myself bare
waiting for the sweet tender touch
of peace
to awaken me

1 Batch #4

Bursting with Pom Seeds
truth be told, there is not much to report on the Pom Seed front.  since Batch #3, i think i have only managed to add one more potentially tasty treat.  instead, i have manage to inundate my twitter account with tweetoetry.  and if that wasn't bad enough, ramblings have managed to make an appearance as well.  i suppose that these ramblings have the potential to turn into something more and thus could be considered a pom seed, but that was not the intent upon writing them.

not only have pom seeds been scarce, but i have yet to swirl the tasty treats and inhale their fragrance to discover if they have ripened to perfection yet.   anyway, here goes...

Pom Seeds Batch #4

  • I will live forever like this; in shadows of who I long to be

Ramblings

  • ~ why do I live like this? one pill...many pills...I need to find an answer (thoughts of a poem lingered in my head upon writing this, With Every Word... In Every Action...)
  • I don't have any thoughts lingering in my head ~ Is that what peace feels like?
  • ~ her giggles are like candy ~
  • anxiety's peace ~ tastes like profanity ~ on virgin lips (thoughts of calling this a poem in its own right still lingers)
  • forgive my lack of social graces... (part of a recent ramblings post, social-less soul)

Leftovers
  • Information overload
  • I woke with rose colored glasses and the world was as only I could dream it to be
  • we were never friends; not really; how could we be; when all we did; was dance around each other
  • my mom use to day; we're never lost; we're just misplaced
  • i hate days like today; where i'm blindsided; punched in the chest; days when all i want to do is curl up into a little ball and disappear
  • "you're growing."; am I? I don't think I'm growing; maybe just walking outside myself
  • my heart aches for what was; as the world crashes in on me; ripping through me; as though I were a speck of dust; I weep for you (realized shortly after the Batch #3 post that this was not intended to be a pom seed, but rather a tweetoetry, so it will be joining my tweetoetries in this update.)
  • love is pain and sorrow; wrapped in disguise; it laughs at me; with its sweet intoxicating lies
  • I woke this evening to a dream; and found myself the real me (i tried to expand this one, but i don't think it has fermented as much as it needs to)
  • I see myself in black & white; brilliant colors surround me; poke at me; eager to caress me with their warmth; but they bounce off of me

#13
~Social Isolation

do they notice
my self-imposed segregation
am I a blip on their radar
or a tree in the forest
no one hears fall

#14, 15, 16
~Will You

if I cover my mouth
will you kiss me elsewhere
until I relinquish
my lips
if I cover my ears
will you hold me up a sign
telling me I'm beautiful
until I'm desensitized enough
to hear its truth
if I close my eyes
(will you disappear
or) will you hold me
in your warm embrace
until the fear releases me
and I can see you
in all
of my days

upon transcribing the last tweetoetry, i realized i missed a line.  i added it in denoting it for the time being with parentheses.  i don't think i truly comprehended the number of them until just now.  unlike the last batch, i'm not going to notate each one, but i did include if it fit a particular form of poetry.  one thing i did learn is that tankas are quite tricky to write while maintaining the 140 character rule of a tweet.

1 perfectly imperfect

Is there perfection
in every flower that blooms
opening with love?
You are my precious flower,
so perfectly imperfect.

in January of this year, i received an invitation to participate in Jingle Poetry's Poetry Potluck, which is held on Mondays.  interestingly enough, it was shortly after i came across them in another's (who i can no longer remember) blog.  i jumped in feet first on 1/11/11 with 'winds of change'.  within the same week, i found myself also partaking in Thursday Poets Rally (week 37).  since, i have participated in seven potlucks and rally week 38.

what i have found most enjoyable, beyond the added inspiration, is reading other poets' works.  i have seen some wonderful talent that has truly spoken to me and love the opportunity to see their take on the same theme.  i have also found that joining these two events has helped me to fulfill a new year's rule and brave the stress induces task of writing and leaving comments (something i have expressed in the past as being excruciatingly hard for me).

so i'd like to take this opportunity to thank Jingle for inviting me to participate as well as those wonderful writers out there who bravely share their works, thoughts and ideas.

now comes the next to impossible part...nominating one individual for the You are a Perfect Poet Award...did i mention i'm horrible at making decisions...hmmm...

10 Tanka: Pink Rain

Pink Blooms

#1
magnolia's first bloom
brings sweet memories of you
Pink Dusted Boughs
with gorgeous pink hues
too soon petals fall like tears
purging pain to grow anew

Visions of Pink

#2
beneath lovely boughs
dusted with gorgeous pink hues
i watch it rain
flurries of petals drift down
like scattered visions of you

my favorite part about spring is those few weeks were the trees are dusted in hues of pinks, whites, and purples.  i'm not sure what it is about them, but my heart sighs at the sight of those lovely branches.  For One Stop Poetry's Friday Poetically, we were ask to melt away the last bits of snow that coat our thoughts and think of spring.  in doing so, i found myself think of those blossoming trees and one in particular that haunts my mind.  thus you may find there are whispers of sorrow in these two pieces, but a bit of hope too i'd like to think.

2 frazzled ('cause i already used befuddled)...

this whole tanka/haiku thing has me spinning in circles...add to it kyoka and senryu and well i'm so frazzled...

the two poem pivot of the tanka has me somewhat disconnected.  the 5-7-5 but doesn't have to be 5-7-5 haiku bit has me in a bit of tizzy.  the anti-tanka mad song/poem better known as a kyoka is well rather unknown.  and it would really help if i had a better handle on satirical and irony 'cause otherwise the senryu is just human-nature as apposed to nature-nature.  of course there's the you-really-don't-get-this-form poem, also known as free verse.

i have no idea what's what.  a strict syllable count and inherent theme seem so much easier.  why do things have to get complicated?  how 'bout we just call it a poem?  so do i just give up, write what's in me and not care if it hits the mark?  or do i do my best to hit the mark and search out the answers and advice?

feel free to chime in at anytime here....

Tanka, Kyoka, or Free Verse?

#1

taste succulent on the tongue

capturing his heart
she stole his play book with ease
and played him at his own game

0 Batch #3

Bursting with Pom Seeds

time for a new batch of pom seeds and leftovers.  i definitely think twitter was a good medium for throwing out little bursts of thought that have the potential of evolving into a tasty morsel.  140 characters seems to be just enough, though i admit i've cut some ideas or reworked them to stay below the limit.  i've now been a member for 39 days...and have managed 18 tweets.  and while the majority of them are pom seeds, two found themselves fully ripe with flavor.  so i'm expanding this batch to include new pom seeds, leftovers, and (what i will term) tweetoetry.

Pom Seeds Batch #3
  • my heart aches for what was; as the world crashes in on me; ripping through me; as though I were a speck of dust; I weep for you
  • love is pain and sorrow; wrapped in disguise; it laughs at me; with its sweet intoxicating lies
  • I woke this evening to a dream; and found myself the real me (i tried to expand this one, but i don't think it has fermented as much as it needs to)
  • I see myself in black & white; brilliant colors surround me; poke at me; eager to caress me with their warmth; but they bounce off of me

  • I feel like an outsider looking in; the warm embrace of acceptance eludes (found its flavor in two recent poems:  alone and To be rid of this curse)

Tweetoetry

#1
~Drowning

how do I make it stop
how do I just--not care
please! tell me how
'cause I'm drowning
alone
and fast

(this first tweetoetry had me toying with syllables (6, 6, 4, 4, 2, 2).  i've never really been one for syllables.  even more so if i have to pay attention to syllable stress.  but it's good to work outside one's comfort zone.)

Strike a Pose

#2
~My Dear Little One

you lay with eyes closed
your breath barely visible
I fear what's ahead
the cold earth is unyielding
still I must make your last bed

(first, i still had tanka on the brain from One Stop Poetry's Form Monday [Part 1 and Part 2].  not a bad form for tweetoetry, but not exceeding the max character count can be a bit tricky.  secondly, the poem was written for Bailey, who had me quite worried by acting like  an old man as apposed to his usual rambunctious self.  i've read the average lifespan is 8-10 in some sources and 10-12 in others.  either way, he is on the cusp being just over 10 years old.  fortunately, he is back to his crazy wall climbing self.  maybe it was the cold weather...maybe he was mad at me...maybe he was just tired from all his shenanigans, after all he is technically and old man.)

11 Tanka: Kisses

#1
I'm troubled to find
twirling with arms wide open
snow kisses melt fast
a contradiction to yours
which linger long and melt...me

#2
I feel the sun's kiss
mirror the burning within
oh how I miss you
just the thought of your sweet lips
sends shivers of pure desire

once again i find myself toying with tanka.  my first attempts were done with the simple knowledge of syllable count.  my second attempts were done with a bit of history on the origins (lover's notes).  since, i have gleaned some additional information on the traditional structure of the poem, which splits the poem in two pieces (and tends to include some expression of season).  i can't quite decide if this makes it easier to write or more challenging--this thinking in parts.  i reviewed my other attempts; read them as though they were two separate entities and they sounded like they fit (except for the season bit)...but what do i really know...except that i happen to like them.    Anyway, thank you to One Stop Poetry's Form Monday (Part 1 and Part 2) for their wonderful review of this poetic form.  you have totally destroyed my original view of tanka, for which i am not sure i can forgive you...maybe given a bit of time...we'll see...

0 Tanka: Goddess

#1
just a simple touch
invokes a feral goddess
burning deep within
a fire only you can quench
please, i beg, touch me again

#2
as i lie in wait
open and ready for you,
my heart and soul bare,
the thought of your sweet caress
conjures the goddess within

my first introduction to tanka mentioned not its origins as love notes between lovers.  this new enlightenment took me on a new path...one that if i think long enough about will make me blush...but why not...  inspiration for this new path came from the detailed history of the tanka laid out at One Stop Poetry's  Form Monday.

4 Slumbering Nature

a sweet demure child
pushed prodded and offended
finally erupts
a volitale volcano
no longer a dorment soul

after toying with several other forms of Japanese poetry (haiku, senryu, and sedoka), i thought i might expand my exploration...thus this attempt at a tanka. inspiration for this creation came from Three Word Wednesday. [3WW=>demure, offend(ed), volatile]
